Six Italian Tourists Report Labuan Bajo Travel Agent for Alleged Rp 125 Million Fraud
Six Italian tourists have reported a travel agent in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, to the local police for alleged fraud amounting to Rp 125 million. The report was filed on Wednesday evening, 12 August 2026, against the agent identified as Kristoforus Aman, also known as Itok Aman, 32.
Manggarai Barat Police spokesperson Aipda Fransiskus Jelahu confirmed the receipt of the police report on Thursday, 13 August 2026, but declined to provide further details, stating that he would provide an update later.
According to information gathered, the total loss suffered by the tourists was approximately Rp 125 million. Itok Aman had reportedly only paid a down payment to a boat operator for a planned trip to Komodo National Park. When the tourists arrived at the boat, the trip was cancelled because the operator had not received full payment. The agent subsequently became unreachable by phone.
The group of tourists, consisting of four men and two women, visited the Integrated Police Service Centre at the Manggarai Barat Police station on Wednesday evening to lodge the complaint. Journalists who approached the centre for information were told by officers that they could not comment without permission from the police chief. Itok Aman has not responded to requests for confirmation via phone call or WhatsApp message, and his mobile phone is inactive.
