Six Industrial Buildings in Cikupa, Tangerang, Engulfed in Flames, Explosions Heard

A fire broke out at the Cikupa Mas Industrial Estate in Cikupa District, Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Sunday (14/6), engulfing six buildings and injuring one worker.

Thick black smoke billowed from the site, visible from up to 7.5 kilometres away, as firefighters battled the intense blaze. Several explosions were heard during the firefighting operation.

Amirudin, a platoon commander with the Tangerang Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), stated that the fire originated at the rear of a pipe storage building owned by PT Sanfu Plastic Indonesia. “Due to strong winds, the fire spread to six buildings,” he said at the scene.

He explained that the affected structures were used for various activities, including pipe storage, hair tie production, and plastic pellet processing. Ten fire engines were deployed to tackle the blaze, but crews faced difficulties due to strong winds accelerating the spread and a lack of accessible water sources.

One employee of PT Sanfu Plastic Indonesia sustained burns to the right arm and has received medical treatment. The cause of the fire remains unknown and will be investigated by the police once the situation is under control.
