SINGAPORE: Six Indonesian nationals caught trying to enter Singapore using a wooden sampan were scheduled to be charged on Monday in court, the Police Coast Guard said.
The illegal immigrants, ranging in ages between 17 and 32, were at sea on Sunday near Bedok Jetty.
If convicted, they face up to six months in jail and could be caned at least three strokes or fined up to S$6,000 (US$3,550).
With the latest arrests, 133 illegal immigrants have been nabbed this year at sea, police said. --DPA
