Six Indonesian Futures qualifiers move on
JAKARTA (JP): Six Indonesian players survived matches on
Monday in the second round of the qualifiers for the Indonesia
Futures F5 at the Kemayoran tennis complex in Central Jakarta.
Tjahjono of Indonesia beat first seeded qualifier Attapol
Rithiwatanapong of Thailand 6-2, 6-3, and will challenge Hiroshi
Fukaumi of Japan in Tuesday's third round. Fukaumi defeated Prima
Simpatiaji, who won the men's doubles at the Asian School
Championships late last month, 6-0, 6-1.
Samsudin Pare also managed to reach the next round after
eliminating compatriot Hartono Simaji 7-5, 6-3. Samsudin will
face Steven Bijl of the Netherlands, who did not break into a
sweat in his match against Imanuel Prakoso of Indonesia, 6-0, 6-
0.
Ferdy Fauzi was forced to use all his reserves against
teammate Agung Nugraha before sealing the match 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
He will challenge the Netherland's Ruben De Kleijn, who won 6-4,
6-4 over third seeded Roman Kukal of Slovakia.
Prihatin followed suit by dispatching teammate Jefry
Trihandiansyah 6-2, 6-1. He will meet Ekkarin Pisuth-Arnonth of
Thailand, who reached the third round after beating Ferly
Montolalu of Indonesia 6-0, 6-3.
In another match, fifth seeded Surya Wijaya will face
compatriot Peter Susanto. Surya managed to reach the next round
after eliminating Irwan Radjab -- who also competed in last
month's Asian School Championships -- 6-1, 6-2. Peter defeated
teammate Posla 6-0, 6-3.
Second seeded Hiroyasu Sato of Japan defeated Henry Davin of
Indonesia 6-4, 6-2 to meet teammate Tai Tsuchiya, who beat Invasi
Afghan of Indonesia 6-3, 6-1.
Fourth seeded Kamil Blaha of the Czech Republic sent home
Suprarat Chukwan of Thailand 6-2, 6-2. He will now face South
African Robert Krause. Earlier on Monday, Krause tamed old hand
Yustedjo Tarik 6-2, 6-4.
Only eight of 16 players competing in the qualifying final
rounds will play in the Future's main draw, scheduled to start on
