Six Global Sumud Vessels Still Heading for Gaza
Six Global Sumud Armada vessels are still sailing towards Gaza as of Tuesday evening (19 May 2026, WIB). This comes after the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian armada coalition stated that the Andros, Zefiro, and Don Juan had been intercepted by Israeli forces after continuing to sail toward Gaza for more than 24 hours.
Israeli forces have intercepted one of the remaining ships from the Global Sumud Armada, stopping it when the vessel was around 82 nautical miles (about 150 km) from Gaza, according to trackers on the flotilla’s site.
A live feed on the coalition site also shows Israeli forces boarding the vessel “Andros” as activists raise their hands. The feed then goes dark with a message stating that the ship has been intercepted.
According to trackers on the Global Sumud Flotilla site, 64 ships have been intercepted by Israeli forces, with six ships continuing toward Gaza.
“We are aware of an escalation in violence during the ongoing interception by Israeli forces,” the Global Sumud Flotilla committee said.
It should be noted that everyone on board has been trained in non-violent action and de-escalation. The team is working to verify the status of everyone and will share confirmed updates as soon as possible.
“The legal and diplomatic teams are also taking the necessary steps to document what happened, protect those who were abducted, and pursue accountability for the actions of the Israeli forces.”
Despite the interceptions, the Global Sumud Flotilla fleet says it will continue sailing toward Gaza with seven ships remaining. They also call for international support to end the blockade of Gaza and halt global involvement in the crisis.
Israeli forces were reportedly intercepting dozens of ships on Monday attempting to deliver humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza amid the war. Israel is said to have deployed a “full naval armada”, while armed forces used fast boats to intercept, board, and detain hundreds of activists in international waters near Cyprus.
Two weeks earlier, Israeli forces also intercepted 22 flotilla ships off the coast of Greece and detained 181 volunteers who took part in the humanitarian mission.
Jordan, together with Indonesia, Spain, Pakistan, Brazil, Bangladesh, Türkiye, Colombia, Libya, and the Maldives, issued a joint statement condemning Israel’s interception of activists aboard the Global Sumud Flotilla bound for Gaza in international waters.
Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the leaders of those countries “strongly condemn the latest Israeli assault on the Global Sumud Flotilla”. They also expressed serious concern for the safety of the civilian participants in the flotilla and called for the immediate release of all detained activists and full respect for their rights and dignity.
The foreign ministers added that the “repeated attacks on peaceful humanitarian initiatives reflect Israel’s ongoing disregard for international law and freedom of navigation”.
