Six die in C. Java accident

BOYOLALI, Central Java: Six people were killed in a traffic accident near the village of Teras in Mojosongo district, Boyolali, Central Java on Thursday evening.

Boyolali Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. V. Sambudiono said the incident occurred when the sedan collided with a pickup truck loaded with vegetables as it was overtaking a bus.

"The pickup truck crashed into the sedan and two people were killed instantly at the site," Sambudiono said in a telephone interview.

Two other victims died en route to the hospital and the remaining two died after receiving hospital treatment.

He did not identify the deceased saying only that one of them was the sedan driver while the others were the driver and passengers of the pickup truck.

"We suspect two of the victims were at the back of the pickup sitting on the vegetables," he said. (emf)
