Six Defendants in Rorotan Land Corruption Case to Face First Trial Next Week
The Corruption Crime Court at the Central Jakarta District Court will hold the first trial for six defendants accused of corruption in land procurement in Rorotat, North Jakarta, next week. The case, which occurred within the Perumda Pembangunan Sarana Jaya (PPSJ) environment between 2019 and 2021, is recorded to have caused state financial losses of tens of billions of rupiah.
Spokesperson for the Central Jakarta District Court, Andi Saputra, confirmed that the agenda for the first hearing will be the reading of the indictment by the Public Prosecutor. “The session agenda is the indictment. The panel of judges will be led by Teddy Windiartono as the presiding judge, with members I Wayan Yasa and Hiashinta Manalu,” Andi stated in Jakarta on Thursday.
The six defendants undergoing trial consist of individuals from both the internal Jakarta-owned enterprise (BUMD) and the private sector.
Prior to the trial of these six defendants, the court had already handed down sentences to four other individuals involved in the same case. The summary of the penalties established by the judges is as follows:
In addition to prison sentences, the four convicted individuals were each fined Rp300 million, or a subsidiary of four months’ imprisonment.
The Panel of Judges stated that the total state loss in the Rorotan land procurement case reached Rp93.86 billion. These losses arose from corrupt practices that enriched several parties.
The defendants are deemed to have violated Article 2 paragraph (1) of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes, as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001, in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) ke-1 of the Criminal Code.
