Six Chinese arrested in Yogyakarta

JAKARTA: Six Chinese nationals have been detained by Yogyakarta immigration authorities for working here while on short-visit visas, which does not allow work.

Head of the Yogyakarta immigration office Tri Adi Dharma said Monday that the six were arrested after local people complained about their presence.

"After checking their visas, (we found out that) they only had short-visit visas," Tri was quoted by Antara as saying Monday.

The six were identified as Xu Weng Zhang (42), Lin Shen Fang (49), Lin The Hua (32), Lin Zhang Mei (46), Liu Guang Hui (28), and Liu Jin Rong (47).

According to Tri, their visas allowed them to hold business talks with their partners in Indonesia but not to sell goods directly to the people.

He also said that the six would be deported as soon as possible and put on the immigration blacklist. --Antara
