The Fire and Rescue Service (Disdamkar) of Bandung Regency, West Java, successfully extinguished a bushfire that had the potential to spread after deploying six fire engines.

Head of the Firefighting Division at Disdamkar Bandung Regency, Asep Bintang, stated in Bandung on Monday that six units were immediately deployed from the outset as a precautionary measure against the rapid spread of flames at the scene.

“For your information, we launched six units at once. Because there were concerns about very rapid propagation, we launched six units from the Soreang Headquarters and the TKI Post,” Asep said.

He explained that officers received the fire report at around 4:45 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. After several hours of firefighting efforts, the flames were finally extinguished and no longer had the potential to spread.

“The indication is that this was scrubland, so it took quite a long time. We received the report at 4:45 p.m., then handling was carried out until the fire was finally extinguished,” he stated.

Asep added that the extinguishing process was carried out in an integrated manner with the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), particularly for handling the affected area.

“In handling this, we cooperated with the BPBD regarding the area coverage from the BPBD team,” he said.

Disdamkar Bandung Regency urged the public not to conduct open burning, especially during the dry season, as it risks triggering land fires that can spread rapidly due to dry vegetation conditions.
