Six Argo Lawu cars derailed

CIREBON, West Java: Six of 12 passenger cars of an Argo Lawu train on the Surakarta-Jakarta route derailed Thursday afternoon in Cisaat village, about 10 kilometers from Cirebon railway station.

There were no casualties in the accident, Antara reported.

Passengers from the derailed cars continued to Cirebon in five of the six operating cars.

Three additional cars were added to the train, bearing the serial number KA 47, to provide more seating. The around 300 passengers continued their journey to Jakarta after an hour in Cirebon.

The train arrived in Jakarta three hours late.

Zuhdi, head of the local branch of state railway company, Perumka, said here Thursday that the investigation into the cause of the accident was continuing.

He estimated the train's speed was between 80 km and 85 km per hour when the accident occurred.
