Situbondo (ANTARA) - The Situbondo Police, in collaboration with SMA Negeri 2 Situbondo, East Java, have organised an academic and English language competition for kindergarten, primary, and junior high school levels as part of the celebrations for the 80th Bhayangkara Day in 2026.

Participated in by hundreds of students, the competition included Mathematics, Science, and English Olympiads, as well as English Storytelling and English Speech contests. Notably, the English Storytelling panel featured an international judge from Bristol, United Kingdom, Mr Demian.

“We want the children of Situbondo to have the confidence to compete in the global era; the presence of this native speaker from Bristol is expected to serve as motivation for them to continue learning and developing their English language skills,” said the Situbondo Police Chief, AKBP Bayu Anuwar Sidiqie, in Situbondo on Sunday.

According to him, the competition aims to provide space for students to develop their potential, achieve excellence, and train their courage to perform in public.

The presence of an international judge, the Police Chief continued, provides valuable experience for the participants and serves as motivation for Situbondo students to improve their English proficiency and dare to compete on a broader scale.

He stated that this activity is a form of the National Police’s attention to children’s education, as well as an effort to support the emergence of a young generation that is intelligent, high-achieving, and possesses high self-confidence.

“We want to provide a positive space for the children of Situbondo to demonstrate their best abilities; they are not only learning to achieve success, but also learning to be brave, think critically, and believe in their own abilities,” said AKBP Bayu.

Bayu added that students should continue to learn and prepare themselves to face the increasingly complex challenges of the future in the digital era.

“Help us maintain public order and security in the most intellectual way, which is by becoming a generation that is intelligent, wise in using social media, not easily influenced by hoaxes, and avoids juvenile delinquency and all forms of legal violations,” he said.

As a form of appreciation for the skills and hard work of the participants, the committee has prepared dozens of awards for the winners, including 48 winners each for the Mathematics, English, and Science Olympiads, as well as 24 winners for Storytelling and 24 for English Speech across various educational levels.
