Situbondo Government Launches KSP Breakthrough for Pasir Putih Marine Tourism
Situbondo (ANTARA) - The Situbondo Regency Government in East Java has made a new breakthrough, the Cooperation of Utilisation (KSP) of Pasir Putih Marine Tourism, with a third party to develop the beach destination that is an icon of the region’s tourism.
Bupati Situbondo Yusuf Rio Wahyu Prayogo stated that for the last two decades, the Pasir Putih tourist attraction in Pasir Putih Village, Bungatan District, has not developed as expected.
“Therefore, we must be brave and admit that we need a breakthrough, we need innovation, big thinking and big steps. Namely, opening up opportunities and space for professional partners to enter through a cooperation of utilisation scheme or KSP,” he said during a press conference in Situbondo on Tuesday.
According to Rio, this breakthrough of cooperating with an external party had been under consideration and discussion by the local government, which decided to enter into a cooperation contract with an external party.
He explained that the local government has budget limitations to develop and operate a destination that should be a top attraction in East Java.
Through this cooperation of utilisation of the Pasir Putih tourism area, he wants Pasir Putih to once again become a leading destination, not only crowded with visitors but also professionally managed, generating significant locally-generated revenue (PAD), benefiting the community, creating jobs for the surrounding population, and revitalising MSMEs.
“For years, efforts have been made for improvements, but the incentives provided, the fiscal budget injections received, and the existing conditions have not resulted in a balanced exchange,” said Bupati Rio.
The Bupati added that this tourism cooperation must bring benefits, one of which will become an additional fiscal space for Situbondo.
“There is no other goal besides increasing locally-generated revenue, and we are certain this investment will create jobs, fulfil employment needs, grow MSMEs, improve destination quality, and produce other multiplier effects for the economy of Situbondo,” Rio said.
