Situational Open-Close System Implemented at Cipali Toll Rest Areas During Return Traffic
Officials from Astra Tol Cipali and the police have begun implementing a situational open-close system across all rest areas along the Cikopo-Palimanan (Cipali) toll road during the Lebaran return traffic on Tuesday. Sustainability Management & Corporate Communications Department Head of Astra Tol Cipali, Ardam Rafif Trisilo, stated that the application of this open-close system for all rest areas on the Cipali toll road aims to maintain the comfort of road users in utilising rest facilities. He mentioned that this situational open-close policy for rest areas on the Cipali toll road applies to rest areas at KM 86, 102, 130, and 166 on the one-way lane, as well as rest areas at KM 164, 130, 101, and 77 on the normal lane. He added that if a rest area is closed due to being full, road users are urged not to stop on the road shoulder or force themselves to queue on the main lane before entering the rest area, as this could trigger traffic slowdowns. As alternatives, road users can rest at the next rest area or utilise rest facilities outside the nearest toll gate. “We guarantee that the total accumulated toll fee remains the same (based on the kilometres travelled) even if road users exit and enter toll gates for resting,” he said. Meanwhile, based on data from 00:00 WIB to 17:00 WIB on Tuesday, one-way traffic towards Jakarta on the Cipali toll road was observed to be increasing. Approximately 74,000 vehicles have passed through the Cipali toll road via the former Cikopo Toll Gate towards Jakarta, or about 92 percent compared to the same period the previous day. He stated that although vehicles continue to increase, the implementation of one-way traffic engineering can keep traffic flowing smoothly and under control. Astra Tol Cipali urges all road users to always prioritise safety, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and comply with instructions from on-site officers during the one-way traffic engineering period. To ensure collective safety, road users are advised not to change lanes or use U-turns during the one-way traffic engineering.
