Sitting in the front seat, West Sumatra Vice Governor protected by airbag in collision with truck
An accident occurred in Pantai Cermin District, Solok, as the vice governor of West Sumatra, Vasko, was on his way to Padang. The Gerindra politician said he is improving and intends to travel to Jakarta to meet the Minister for National Development Planning (Bappenas) to discuss plans for West Sumatra’s development going forward. ‘The condition is safe and healthy. We are now resuming our duties. We will depart for Jakarta to meet the Bappenas minister to prepare planning for West Sumatra’s development ahead,’ he said. Vasko said the crash happened just after he had finished an engagement with the Transportation Service in Solok Selatan, which ended at 01:00 WIB. He said he was seated in the front seat, and the airbag of the official Hyundai Palisade protected him. ‘I was conscious. I was sitting in front and the impact was very strong. Thank goodness the airbag kept me protected,’ he said. Vasko said he sustained bruises and minor injuries, but his condition remains stable after a hospital check.
