The Secretariat General of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (Setjen MPR RI) is encouraging the creation of a healthy living culture in the workplace through group exercise activities. One of these is the Jalan Sehat (Healthy Walk) programme involving employees within the Setjen MPR RI.

The activity, organised by the Bureau of Human Resources, Organisation, and Law together with the MPR RI Pratama Clinic, took place in the MPR/DPR/DPD building complex, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, on Friday (21/8/2026). This event served as a momentum to revive group exercise activities that had not been routinely carried out.

Acting Secretary General of MPR RI Siti Fauziah said group exercise is a first step to rebuild fitness enthusiasm while strengthening togetherness among employees. According to her, group exercise activities in general had not been routinely conducted within the Setjen MPR RI for quite some time.

“We have actually not done group exercise together for a very long time. Although there may be small groups that exercise together, in general at the Secretariat General of MPR RI we have not held exercise for a long time, especially in the past year,” she said in a written statement on Friday (21/8/2026).

She said exercise activities within the Setjen MPR RI can still be carried out through various activities organised by KORPRI. Some of these include badminton, table tennis, and volleyball, which can be options for employees to maintain fitness.

“Therefore, I invite all employees of the Setjen MPR RI who have not yet joined to participate in these exercise activities,” she added.

In addition to existing sports, the Setjen MPR RI is also working to introduce new activity options to increase employee enthusiasm. One activity being prepared is padel.

“The newest one to be held is padel. We have already borrowed the room and requested a slot from the DPR. We must ensure there are participants. This means we are trying to revitalise exercise again,” she said.

According to her, the Jalan Sehat activity was chosen as a first step because it can be followed by various groups of employees. Participants walked around the MPR/DPR/DPD building complex with the starting and ending point at the parking area of the MPR RI Pratama Clinic.

“We are trying to walk first. We walk around the building, going out to the left, around to the front, and back here as the gathering point,” she explained.

She hopes the group exercise activities can continue sustainably and become part of a positive habit within the Setjen MPR RI. Support for exercise activities will also be strengthened, including through a plan to provide sports uniforms or shirts for employees.

“The important thing is not just getting the uniform, but we must first be enthusiastic about carrying out this activity,” she stressed.

Siti Fauziah also emphasised that the existence of the MPR RI Pratama Clinic has a broader role in supporting employee health. According to her, the health facility is not only used when employees experience health problems, but also as part of efforts to maintain body condition.

“The polyclinic exists not only for those who are sick, but also for those who are healthy. If illness decreases, it means medicine decreases and vitamins are increased,” she said.

She hopes the Jalan Sehat activity can be the beginning of growing collective awareness about the importance of maintaining physical and mental health. With a healthy body, employees are expected to carry out their activities and duties more optimally.

“Hopefully this activity can create healthy energy for all of us and also for our minds. Because a healthy body means a healthy mind,” she concluded.

For information, the Jalan Sehat activity was attended by Acting Secretary General of MPR RI Siti Fauziah, Deputy for Administration Heri Herawan, Head of the Bureau of Human Resources, Organisation, and Law Agus Subagyo, as well as employees within the Setjen MPR RI.

Through this group exercise activity, the Setjen MPR RI hopes that employee fitness will increase while strengthening relationships among employees in creating a healthy and spirited work environment.
