Jakarta (ANTARA) - Global hotel guest acquisition and revenue platform SiteMinder has recorded a recovery and renewed growth in Indonesia's domestic travel and tourism, in line with rising demand from local travellers as reflected in hotel bookings throughout the past year.

SiteMinder Indonesia Country Manager Fifin Prapmasari said in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday that, based on SiteMinder's Hotel Booking Trends compiled from more than 130 million hotel bookings, the share of domestic guests checking in at Indonesian hotel properties reached 48 per cent in 2025, an increase of 5.6 percentage points compared with the previous year.

"This is the second highest globally after Canada," she said.

During the same period, the share of international guests fell to 52 per cent from 57 per cent in 2024, bringing domestic and international demand almost into balance.

Fifin said the shift in booking patterns was in line with a surge in domestic tourism throughout the past year, during which Indonesia recorded a 19 per cent annual increase in domestic travel.

As local travel rose, hotel booking cancellation rates dropped to 11.38 per cent — the lowest in the world — whilst booking lead times shortened.

Hotel booking lead times fell by 7 per cent to 19 days, well below the global average of 32 days, and 80 per cent of hotel bookings were for single-night stays, compared with the global average of 74 per cent.

Meanwhile, average room rates declined 9.38 per cent year-on-year to Rp1,884,476.
