Sirens Sound! Bekasi River Level Rises, Water Inflow from Bogor Arrives
The Bekasi City Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) recorded a significant rise in the water level (TMA) at the Cileungsi and Cikeas meeting point (P2C) on Monday night (4/5/2026). Based on data up to 10:15 PM WIB, the water height reached 635 centimetres, placing it at alert level 2 (top level). This rise was also marked by the sounding of sirens in several areas as early warnings for residents living in flood-prone regions. “The current condition is top level TMA at P2C on the Bekasi River at 635 or alert 2, but the trend is already declining,” said Wisnu when confirmed by Kompas.com via short message on Monday. The increase in water discharge was triggered by water inflow from the Bogor region entering the Bekasi River since nighttime. “So there is water coming from Bogor. Our CCTV monitoring showed that in the afternoon, the TMA in Cileungsi was at 275 cm. Water started entering the Bekasi River from 8:30 PM to 9:45 PM,” he said. As a result of the situation, at least three areas along the riverbank were affected by flooding, namely Gang Mawar 6 in Margahayu Kelurahan, Kampung Lengkak in Bekasi Jaya Kelurahan, and Kampung Lebak in Teluk Pucung Kelurahan. BPBD advises the public in vulnerable areas to heighten their alertness and carry out self-evacuation to safer places before the water overflows into settlements. BPBD personnel have been deployed to the locations to help residents evacuate valuable items. “We urge the public to remain calm, not panic, continue to follow instructions from field officers, and regularly monitor official information regarding developments in water levels,” said Wisnu.
