Sinking of 'Gurita'

According to a field survey, passengers aboard the Gurita
ferry far exceeded the capacity of the vessel. The survey report
said between 300 and 400 people were on board, not 210 as
officially reported by Minister of Transportation Haryanto
Dhanutirto. This has been common practice, because the port
administrator has to pay levies to the boss. The Gurita tragedy
has uncovered this irregularity.

I would like to make the following suggestions:

* The minister should correct his false report to the House of
Representatives.

* An independent team should be set up to investigate the
accident.

* Those who are found guilty in the tragedy should be brought
to court.

* Necessary precautions should be taken to avoid similar
accidents.
