Traffic on Lenteng Agung Main Road in South Jakarta heading towards Depok, West Java, experienced severe congestion on Friday (29 May) morning. The traffic jam occurred due to lane narrowing caused by a road collapse. According to TMC Polda Metro Jaya’s X account, congestion was reported from north to south, specifically from Pasar Minggu in South Jakarta towards Depok. The road collapse was reported to have happened since Friday early morning WIB. A video uploaded by TMC Polda Metro Jaya showed a large sinkhole, with vehicles approaching the site moving in slow traffic. ‘South Jakarta Traffic Police Unit has implemented traffic management and closed two lanes for vehicles heading from Jakarta to Depok; currently only one lane is available for drivers,’ according to TMC Polda Metro Jaya’s X post at 06:30. ‘Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes due to vehicle build-up near the location,’ the statement added. The sinkhole is visibly large and has been barricaded with water barriers and bamboo. Joint teams from the police, transportation department, and local authorities are stationed around the site. The collapse is positioned centrally, forcing drivers to navigate a single lane adjacent to the KRL railway fence in the area.
