Sinkhole Emerges on Lenteng Agung Main Road, Disrupting Traffic
Traffic on Lenteng Agung Main Road in South Jakarta towards Depok was heavy and congested on Friday morning (29 May 2026), caused by a road collapse that occurred on Thursday evening (28 May). Monitoring at the scene showed congestion from Pasar Minggu to Depok, with drivers forced to slow down due to narrowed lanes around the sinkhole. The large sinkhole, situated in the centre of the road, has prompted authorities to set up water barriers and bamboo barricades to secure the area and direct traffic. Vehicles can now only use a single lane next to the KRL railway fence, leading to long queues and disrupted flow. The collapse occurred in front of Sate PSK in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta, with residents reporting visible road damage two days prior to the full collapse. A joint team of police, transportation officials, and local authorities are managing traffic and ensuring safety, while water resources personnel inspected underground drainage systems. Initial assessments indicate the road’s substructure is hollowed out, requiring urgent intervention to prevent further damage.
