Makassar (ANTARA) - The Sinjai Regency Government, through its Social Services Office, in collaboration with the Takalar Reduction Centre and the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos), has distributed Asistensi Rehabilitasi Sosial (Atensi) assistance to 71 elderly residents (lansia) and individuals with disabilities in Sinjai Regency.

The Head of the Sinjai Regency Social Services Office in South Sulawesi, Andi Muhammad Idnan, stated in a comment received in Makassar on Friday that the distribution of Atensi assistance serves as concrete evidence of the presence of local and central government in quickly and accurately responding to the basic needs of the community.

“There are a total of 71 elderly individuals and those with disabilities who received Atensi assistance, and this is all thanks to the collaboration between the local government and the Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Social Affairs,” he said.

Idnan emphasised that the collaboration with the Takalar Reduction Centre will continue to be strengthened to expand the scope of social protection in Sinjai Regency.

“The distribution took place over two days, namely Wednesday to Thursday, 29-30 April 2026. We will continue to strive to expand its coverage,” he stated.

Idnan explained that the programme is focused on two main categories: fulfilling decent living needs and entrepreneurial assistance, with the aim that the beneficiaries are not only helped consumptively but also gain economic independence.

“All the assistance provided is a follow-up to the results of in-depth assessments conducted by the technical team of the Social Services Office together with the social rehabilitation assistants (Rehsos) from the Ministry of Social Affairs RI and the local village government,” he said.
