A flash flood struck Rompang Village, Rompang District, Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) on Sunday, 15 March 2026 in the afternoon, affecting 305 families. Three sub-villages within the village were impacted by the disaster.

“Three hamlets were affected by the flash flood yesterday in Rompang Village,” said Rusdianto, Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Sumbawa Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), speaking to detikBali on Monday, 16 March 2026.

Rusdianto explained that the flash flood occurred following six hours of continuous heavy rainfall on Rompang Village, specifically from 11:00 to 16:00 Central Indonesian Time. Rainwater flowing from the mountain carried mud, rocks and cut timber that directly struck residential areas.

“Three hamlets near the village sustained severe damage after being hit by the flood. Other damage assessments are still being conducted by our officers,” Rusdianto said.

According to Rusdianto, the three affected sub-villages were Ropang A hamlet with 85 families, Ropang B hamlet with 120 families, and Semaning hamlet with 100 families.

Residents, Rusdianto continued, are still cleaning their homes of flood debris. They are being assisted by combined personnel from the military (TNI), national police (Polri), volunteers and scout members.

“There is still considerable damage from this flood that has yet to be detected. We will report findings periodically,” Rusdianto clarified.
