Singkawang Police Implement Traffic Management for Cap Go Meh Festival

Singkawang — Singkawang Police, West Kalimantan Regional Police, have prepared traffic management measures and dedicated emergency routes during the Cap Go Meh Festival, which will take place on Tuesday, 3 March, to ensure smooth vehicle flow and public safety.

Singkawang Police Chief AKBP Dody Yudianto Arruan stated in Singkawang on Sunday that traffic management measures have been implemented particularly during the Tatung Parade, which is expected to attract thousands of visitors from within and outside the region.

“We have prepared these traffic management measures to relieve vehicle congestion from various directions, from Pontianak, Sambas, and Bengkayang alike, so that community activities continue normally and the festival proceeds safely and orderly,” he said.

He explained that vehicles travelling from Pontianak towards Sambas and vice versa can use Jalan Tani to Jalan Pelangi, then to Jalan Terminal Induk and directly to Jalan Ratu Sepudak.

Meanwhile, vehicles from Sambas towards Bengkayang and vice versa will be diverted through Jalan Bambang Ismoyo to Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, then towards Jalan Raya Singkawang–Bengkayang.

Vehicles from Pontianak towards Bengkayang and vice versa can use Jalan A Yani towards Jalan Yohana Godang, then to Jalan Pelita, Jalan Kridasana, Jalan Tengah, Jalan P Natuna through to Jalan KS Tubun, Roban Village.

In addition to traffic diversions, police have also prepared dedicated ambulance routes to ensure emergency health services remain optimal during the festival.

Ambulances from Pontianak towards RSUD Abdul Aziz can use Jalan Raya Sakok, Bundaran 1001-AI, Jalan A Yani and Jalan Dr Sutomo.

Ambulances heading to RSU Vincentius from Pontianak can use Jalan Raya Sakok, Bundaran 1001-AI, Jalan A Yani, Jalan Yohana Godang, Jalan GM Situt, Jalan Stasiun, Simpang Yamaha Rajawali, turn left towards Beringin Corner, Jalan Diponegoro and directly to the hospital.

Ambulances from Sambas towards RSU Vincentius can use Jalan Alianyang to Traffic Light Kuala, Jalan Tani, Bundaran 1001-AI, Jalan A Yani, Jalan Yohana Godang, Jalan GM Situt, Jalan Stasiun, turn left at Rajawali Motor, Beringin Corner, Jalan Diponegoro and directly to their destination.

Ambulances from Bengkayang towards RSU Vincentius can use Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Jalan Bambang Ismoyo, Jalan Alianyang, Traffic Light Kuala, Jalan Tani, Bundaran 1001-AI, Jalan A Yani, Jalan Yohana Godang, Jalan GM Situt, turn left beside Rajawali Motor, Beringin Corner, Jalan Diponegoro and directly to the hospital.

“An alternative route can also use Jalan Raya Pajintan, Jalan Baru, Jalan Kridasana, Jalan GM Situt, Jalan Stasiun, then turn left beside Rajawali Motor towards Beringin Corner and Jalan Diponegoro,” he said.

The Police Chief added that several road sections likely to experience congestion during the Tatung Parade include Jalan Alianyang, Jalan Firdaus, Jalan Diponegoro, Jalan Niaga, Jalan Budi Utomo, Jalan Kurau, Jalan Setia Budi, Jalan Sejahtera, Jalan Stasiun, Jalan Yos Sudarso, Jalan Merdeka, Jalan Nusantara, Jalan Pemuda and Jalan Kalimantan.

He urged the public to comply with instructions from field officers and to use the alternative routes that have been prepared to ensure smooth traffic flow.

“With public support and co-operation, we are optimistic that security and traffic management during the Cap Go Meh Festival will proceed safely, smoothly and conducively,” he said.
