Singkawang Cap Go Meh Festival to be Attended by Ministers and Chinese Ambassador

Singkawang - Singkawang Mayor Tjhai Chui Mie announced that this year’s Cap Go Meh Festival is scheduled to be attended by numerous senior government officials, ranging from ministers and leaders of high-level state institutions to China’s Ambassador to Indonesia.

“Several ministers, the Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament, and China’s Ambassador will attend this year’s Cap Go Meh Festival. Certainly, this is a point of pride for the government and people of Singkawang,” said Tjhai Chui Mie in Singkawang on Sunday (1 March).

In addition, prominent Indonesian intelligence and military figures, including Hendropriyono, are scheduled to attend. Several ministers and deputy ministers from abroad have also been invited to witness directly this cultural event that has become a national agenda.

National figure Oesman Sapta Odang (OSO) has also confirmed his attendance at the event, which is an icon of tourism for Singkawang.

According to Tjhai Chui Mie, the attendance of these senior officials and national and international figures is expected to have a positive impact on increasing tourist visits and improving the local economy.

“Their presence will certainly increase the number of tourist visits and encourage economic improvement for the people of Singkawang,” he said.

“Out of 736 invitations sent, 102 have already confirmed their attendance,” he added.

The invited officials include the Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament, the Chairman of the Regional Representative Council, Infrastructure and Regional Development Coordination Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the Home Minister, the Culture Minister, the Housing and Settlement Areas Minister, and the Deputy Minister of Creative Economy.

Additionally, invitees include the Governor of West Kalimantan, the Governor of North Maluku, seven representatives of the Supreme Audit Board, and the Secretary of the National Borders Management Agency.

The Singkawang Cap Go Meh Festival is also scheduled to be attended by foreign officials, including China’s Ambassador to Jakarta, further strengthening Singkawang’s position as a cultural tourism destination known internationally.

The Mayor hopes that this annual event will run smoothly and spectacularly, with all invited guests enjoying the Tatung performances and the beauty of Singkawang.
