Singkawang Airport Ensures Normal Flights Despite Haze

Singkawang Airport management has confirmed that flight operations remain normal despite haze beginning to cover several areas of Singkawang City, West Kalimantan, in recent days.

Head of the Singkawang Airport Service Unit, Ilham Hafizi, said the conditions have so far not affected flight activity or public interest in using air transport services.

“Currently flight activity at Singkawang Airport is still normal, because flight schedules are carried out during the daytime,” Ilham said in Singkawang on Wednesday.

He explained that Singkawang Airport currently serves two regular flights every day. TransNusa is scheduled to depart at 1.55 p.m. Western Indonesia Time, while Super Air Jet departs at 2.40 p.m. Western Indonesia Time.

According to Ilham, flights taking place during the daytime are expected to provide better visibility conditions to support smooth aircraft operations, although the airport remains vigilant about potential changes in weather conditions and air quality.

“We continue to monitor weather conditions and visibility. Hopefully the existing haze will not affect flight operations,” he said.

Ilham said his team is also continuing to monitor conditions around the airport as part of efforts to ensure flight safety and smoothness.

If changes occur that could potentially affect operations, the airport will coordinate with airlines and the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

Meanwhile, public enthusiasm for travelling through Singkawang Airport remains normal. There has been no visible decline in passenger interest due to the emergence of haze in the area.

“So far public enthusiasm is still normal as usual,” he said.

He urged prospective passengers who will use flight services from Singkawang Airport to arrive early at the airport and follow the latest information from airlines and airport management regarding flight conditions.

Singkawang Airport, with two regular flights every day, serves as one of the air transport access points for the people of Singkawang and surrounding areas, particularly to support mobility to various flight destination cities.
