The Singaraja Zero Point area now officially bears a new name. The Buleleng Regency Government (Pemkab) designated the newly arranged area as Praja Mandala Singa Ambara Raja after holding a melaspas ceremony on Wednesday (29/7/2026). The name was the result of a competition held by the Buleleng Regency Government, which attracted 868 participants. The winning entry, titled Praja Mandala Singa Ambara Raja by Kadek Dika Wirawan, was selected after an assessment process by a team involving the Regional Research and Innovation Agency (BRIDA), the Tourism Office, community leaders, and palace representatives. “The competition to name the Zero Point has concluded. The chosen name is Praja Mandala Singa Ambara Raja. The winner is Kadek Dika Wirawan. Thank you, Kadek Dika, this is extraordinary,” said Buleleng Regent I Nyoman Sutjidra. Kadek Dika Wirawan is a student of the Hindu Communication Science Programme at the Mpu Kuturan State Hindu Institute (IAHN) Singaraja. He submitted the name proposal via Google Form on 11 July 2025 at 09:31 Wita. “Congratulations to Kadek Dika,” Sutjidra added. Sutjidra explained that the name Praja Mandala Singa Ambara Raja was chosen for its strong philosophical meaning. The name signifies an authoritative government centre based on the visionary, strong, and protective leadership spirit of Panji Sakti. “Praja Mandala Singa Ambara Raja means a dignified government centre grounded in the visionary, strong, and nurturing leadership spirit of Panji Sakti. That is roughly the meaning. It is extraordinary,” he added. The inauguration of the name was carried out simultaneously with the melaspas ceremony for the Singaraja Zero Point area. “I officially inaugurate this today as Praja Mandala Singa Ambara Raja,” Sutjidra asserted. However, the name signage has not yet been installed. The Buleleng Regency Government will determine the most appropriate location to ensure it aligns with the area’s aesthetics. “It will be placed somewhere up there later. I am not an expert on the proper placement or how to make it look beautiful. We will leave it to those who understand better,” he said. Meanwhile, the competition winner will receive the award officially during the Buleleng Festival 2026 series, which will be held in August. “Officially, during the Buleleng Festival, at the official event, we will present the award,” Sutjidra stated. Following its inauguration, the Praja Mandala Singa Ambara Raja area is also being prepared as a public space for various arts and cultural activities. In the near future, several musicians from Buleleng who currently reside in Denpasar have already applied to hold performances in the area. “There might be performances from Suara Senja, musicians from Buleleng living in Denpasar. I believe some have already registered,” he concluded.
