A joint team from the TNI/Polri, BNNK Buleleng, and Singaraja Class IIB Prison conducted a search of inmate cells on Tuesday (22/09/2026). Officers discovered several items prohibited within the prison, including cutter knives, scissors, metal spoons, and domino cards.

However, during the search, officers did not find any drugs or mobile phones. The Head of Singaraja Class IIB Prison, Iskandar Djamil, stated that knives, cutters, scissors, and metal spoons are items that inmates are not permitted to carry or store indiscriminately.

Nevertheless, some of the knives and sharp tools found are used for inmates’ handicraft activities. Their use, according to Iskandar, remains under the supervision of prison officers.

“These are prohibited items, including sharp tools. However, they are used to create crafts, such as picture frames,” said Iskandar.

He explained that every tool used for inmate work activities has been recorded. Officers also note who is using the tools and in which cell they are being used.

“These knives are registered—who is using them and in which cell, that is already documented,” he added.

In addition to the sharp tools, officers found domino cards. Iskandar suggested that the cards might have been left there by others, but he ensured that the cards were not being used for gambling.

“The domino cards might have been dropped off. But, God willing, they will not be misused. There is no gambling inside. We are committed to this,” he said.

Officers also found a number of lighters. According to Iskandar, lighters may be present in the prison because the prison authorities do provide the sale of cigarettes and lighters for inmates.

Meanwhile, the Head of Narcotics at Buleleng Police, AKP Putu Edy Sukaryawan, stated that the search was conducted to prevent violations, particularly the abuse and distribution of narcotics within the prison.

“From today’s inspection, no illegal drugs related to the abuse or distribution of narcotics were found,” said Edy.

In addition to drugs, officers also confirmed that no mobile phones belonging to inmates were found during the search.

Edy stated that the joint inspection activities will remain part of a collective effort to prevent drug trafficking and other violations within Singaraja Prison.
