Singaraja Immigration deports three foreigners for misusing tourist visas

The Singaraja Immigration Office in Bali has deported three foreign nationals from India, Singapore, and China for misusing their visit stay permits to work, despite the visas being intended solely for tourism activities. “Every foreign national is obliged to use their visa and stay permit in accordance with the purpose of their arrival,” said Head of the Singaraja Immigration Office Anak Agung Gde Kusuma Putra in a press statement received in Denpasar on Wednesday. The three foreign nationals are identified by the initials AKG from India, RN from Singapore, and ST from China. Agung explained that AKG and ST entered Bali using a Visa on Arrival (VoA), whilst RN utilised a Visa Exemption for Visit (BVK). According to him, these stay permits are only intended for visit activities, including tourism, and cannot be used for work or other activities outside the purpose of the visa grant. However, AKG and RN were working as yoga instructors in Badung Regency, whilst ST was installing machinery and providing training to company staff on machine operation at a factory in Karangasem Regency. He stressed that every foreign national in Indonesia must comply with the prevailing immigration regulations. For these violations, the office deported the three foreign nationals to their respective home countries and proposed their names be included in the blacklist. “The Indian national was deported on Wednesday afternoon. The other two, on Tuesday (14/7) evening,” he said. They violated Article 75 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 122 letter a of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration. “We will continue to enhance supervision of foreigners as a form of immigration law enforcement,” he stated. He added that monitoring of the presence and activities of foreign nationals will continue to be strengthened through synergy with local governments, law enforcement officials, the Foreigner Surveillance Team (Tim Pora), and community support.
