Singapore's Lee to be waxed

SINGAPORE (DPA): A life-size wax likeness of Singapore's
Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew is set to be displayed in Madame
Tussaud's famous wax museum in London, reports said yesterday.

The iron-willed leader's wax effigy will be joining those of
other celebrities, including U.S. President Bill Clinton, the
Dalai lama and U.S. actress Cher, the Straits Times newspaper
said.

Lee will be the first Singapore leader to be honored in the
200 year-old museum, but not the first Singaporean.

A prototype of the famed "Singapore Girl" flight attendant
from Singapore Airlines is already featured.

Lee served as Singapore's Prime Minister from the former
British colony's independence in 1965 until he stepped down in
1990.

He continues to exert strong influence on the government under
his current title of Senior Minister.
