Singaporean Tourist's Gold Necklace Snatched in Canggu, Falls While Chasing Perpetrator

A foreign national from Singapore, identified by the initials CYH (26), became a victim of a snatch theft while passing through the Canggu area of North Kuta District, Badung, Bali. The victim’s 24-gram gold necklace was stolen. She fell while trying to chase the thief. “We have received the report of the gold necklace snatching. The team is already investigating,” said North Kuta Police Chief Kompol I Ketut Sukadana on Tuesday (14/7/2026). The incident began when the victim was riding her own motorbike towards Gang Anggrek in Canggu on Sunday (12/7/2026) at around 10.10 pm local time. Upon arriving in front of a villa, another motorcyclist travelling at high speed suddenly approached her from behind. “According to the victim’s statement, this person came quickly from behind. Her necklace was immediately seized, and he fled straight away. The victim spontaneously tried to chase the perpetrator but fell instead,” explained Sukadana. The victim CYH only suffered abrasions on her hands from the fall. According to the victim’s account, the perpetrator fled westwards towards the Canggu shortcut route. Police have examined several witnesses and CCTV footage. The thief was recorded acting alone. “We are pursuing the perpetrator. We have obtained clues indicating the perpetrator was riding an automatic scooter and wearing all black clothing. We are intensifying this effort,” he concluded.
