Singaporean tourists are becoming one of the potential markets for tourism in Bintability Regency, Riau Islands. As of May 2026, international tourist arrivals to Bintan reached 109,090 visits, representing a 38.5 per cent growth compared to the same period the previous year.

Domestic tourist arrivals also grew by 15.17 per cent year-on-year to 339,425 people up to May 2026. Geographical proximity and connectivity via ferry routes make Singaporean tourists a highly relevant market for Bintan.

Bintan can be reached via the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore, as well as the Pasir Gudang Ferry Terminal in Johor. Within the Riau Islands Province, Singaporean tourists recorded 65,621 visits in April 2026, accounting for 44.62 per cent of total international arrivals.

During the same period, Bintan recorded 21,430 international visits. This situation presents opportunities for tourism industry players to extend the length of stay for tourists and expand shopping activities while they are in Bintan.

Natra Bintan, a Tribute Portfolio Resort, is developing the ‘Discover Bintan Island’ programme, which combines accommodation experiences with tourist activities at various destinations on Bintan Island.

“Bintan has long been known as one of the most accessible island destinations in Southeast Asia,” stated a written release from Discover Bintan Island received by Republika on Thursday (17/9/2026).

The programme offers a three-day, two-night stay package that includes tours to Blue Lake & Desert, dinner featuring traditional Indonesian menus, a 60-minute traditional massage, resort activities, sunset rituals, and shuttle services from the Bandar Bentan Telani Ferry Terminal to Natra Bintan and Lagoi Bay.

The programme also encourages tourists to engage in activities outside the resort area by visiting various destinations across Bintan.

“This entire experience showcases the diversity of Bintan and invites families, couples, and leisure tourists to explore more sides of this destination.”

The growth in international and domestic tourist arrivals opens opportunities for Bintan’s supporting tourism sectors, ranging from transport, culinary, and accommodation to tourist attractions.

Bintan possesses a combination of nature tourism, outdoor activities, as well as cultural and historical experiences that can serve as options for tourists during their stay on the island.
