Singapore (ANTARA) - The Microsoft Work Trend Index 2026 released data on Tuesday (16/6) stating that workers in Singapore are among the most active users of artificial intelligence (AI) in the world.

Microsoft said in a statement that its study found 66 percent of AI users in Singapore are producing work that would have been impossible for them a year ago, surpassing the global average of 58 percent. Among ‘Frontier Professionals’, that figure surged to 82 percent.

Workers in Singapore also demonstrated a strong sense of ownership when using AI, with 88 percent stating they remain responsible for the thinking behind their work, slightly above the global average of 86 percent. More than half of respondents identified critical thinking skills as the most important capability in an AI-enabled work environment.

However, the report highlighted a gap between AI adoption by workers and organisational readiness. Although 78 percent of AI users in Singapore recognise the urgency of adapting quickly to AI, only 24 percent believe their leadership teams have a clear alignment on AI strategy, a figure below the global average of 26 percent.

Overall, Singapore ranks second in the world on Microsoft’s AI Diffusion Index, reflecting widespread AI adoption across the workforce. ‘Singapore’s workforce is among the most AI-ready in the world, with employees already leveraging AI to unlock new ways of working while keeping human judgement at the centre,’ said Wee Luen Chia, managing director of Microsoft Singapore.
