Singapore’s National Environment Agency (NEA) on Monday (24/8) warned of the possibility of worsening air quality this week following an increase in hotspots and haze activity in the region. “We observed an increase in hotspot and haze activity over the weekend, with hotspots and thick smoke plumes detected mainly in Kalimantan and southern Sumatra. Some smoke plumes were also observed in Riau,” the NEA said in a Facebook post. The agency expects dry conditions to continue throughout this week. With winds blowing from the south or southeast, the NEA noted that there may be periods when Singapore is occasionally affected by haze.
