Singapore tourist arrivals up 12%

SINGAPORE: Visitor arrivals in Singapore rose 12 percent in
March to 625,603, with double-digit increases in the number of
both holiday and business travellers, the tourism board said
Tuesday.

Indonesia, China and Japan were the top sources of travellers
but there was also a marked increase in the number of visitors
from Thailand and the Philippines, it said in a statement.

Business-related travel climbed 17 percent, while holiday
arrivals were up 11 percent. Hotel occupancy rates in March were
put at an average 80 percent, up from 71 percent the previous
