Singapore teams up with IBM
SINGAPORE: Singapore's government is teaming up with computer
giant IBM to expand the information technology sector and
position the city state as a place where foreign companies can
outsource their IT functions, the industry regulator said on
Thursday.
Under the S$40 million (US$23.6 million) plan spread over the
next three years, IT managers will be trained in Singapore and
companies given a hand in breaking into new markets.
Higher skilled IT professionals increase Singapore's
attractiveness as an IT hub, said Purushotaman Ramakrishna, the
Infocomm Development Authority's (IDA's) director for enterprise.
