Singapore Responds to Indonesia's Single-Door Export Policy via PT DSI

Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong stated the country will respect any export policies prevailing in Indonesia and will continue to maintain good trade and investment relations. Gan made the remarks in response to the government’s policy of implementing single-door exports through PT Danantara Sumberdaya Indonesia (DSI). The single-door export policy applies to three strategic natural resource commodities, namely palm oil, coal, and iron alloys. ‘Regarding each country’s export policies, I think the situations and environments differ. Each country has its own priorities,’ Gan said during a press conference at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs on Tuesday. He also affirmed that Singapore will maintain good relations with Indonesia, which is a key trade and investment partner. ‘Singapore will work together with Indonesia to ensure that Indonesia remains an attractive investment destination for Singapore,’ he said. Gan also said he would encourage Singaporean businesses to help maintain the smooth flow of trade between the two countries. ‘That is one of the reasons why we have discussed strengthening supply chain resilience between Singapore and Indonesia,’ Gan said.
