Singapore PM Lawrence Wong to Meet Prabowo in Jakarta Tomorrow

Singapore Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong is scheduled to make an official visit to Jakarta on Monday (6/7/2026). During the trip, Wong will attend the annual Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat with President Prabowo Subianto. Citing an official statement from the Singapore Prime Minister’s Office on Sunday (5/7/2026), the bilateral meeting will be led directly by President Prabowo. This agenda marks the second Leaders’ Retreat for the two heads of government. The annual meeting aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Singapore and reaffirm both governments’ commitment to deepening cooperation across various fields. During the meeting, Prabowo and Wong will also discuss new opportunities to enhance mutually beneficial collaboration for both countries. Additionally, they will receive progress reports on a number of bilateral projects that have been underway since the last Leaders’ Retreat in Singapore in June 2025. The two leaders are also scheduled to exchange views on various regional and global developments. During this visit, Lawrence Wong will be accompanied by senior Singaporean ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, Coordinating Minister for Public Service and Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Social and Family Development Masagos Zulkifli, and Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Energy, Science and Technology Dr Tan See Leng. While Lawrence Wong is in Jakarta, Coordinating Minister for National Security and Minister for Home Affairs K. Shanmugam has been appointed as Acting Prime Minister of Singapore.
