Singapore PM Affirms Investment Commitment in Indonesia, Sees Long-Term Growth Prospects

Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong has affirmed his confidence in Indonesia’s economic prospects, stating that Singapore will continue to invest in the country. Speaking during the annual Leaders’ Retreat alongside President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta, Wong said Singapore wants to see Indonesia continue to grow because the futures of both nations are intertwined. He noted that this confidence is reflected in the investments Singapore has consistently made in Indonesia over the years and will continue to make in the future. Wong stressed that Singapore’s investments are not merely capital flows, but also contribute to business creation, downstream industry development, digital infrastructure construction, and job creation in Indonesia. He added that Singaporean companies still see many investment opportunities across various sectors in Indonesia. The Leaders’ Retreat resulted in 26 cooperation agreements, comprising 18 government-to-government and 8 business-to-business deals. These agreements cover a range of fields, including investment, energy, the digital economy, defence, and human resource development.
