Singapore-Lombok Flights Increase to 10 Times a Week
West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal has welcomed a significant increase in international connectivity to the province. The confirmed addition of flight frequencies on the Singapore-Lombok route, from four to ten times a week, provides a fresh boost for the tourism sector in the region.
Iqbal confirmed the schedule increase will be served by Scoot, a low-cost carrier subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. “With this addition, Lombok officially cements its position as the destination with the highest flight frequency from Singapore outside Java and Bali,” Iqbal stated via a WhatsApp message on Wednesday (10/6/2026).
He described the outcome as the fruit of long-term diplomacy and hard work to boost regional tourism and the economy. “Alhamdulillah, after a lengthy effort, our international flight frequency has increased by six flights a week. So from an initial 14 international flights per week, starting this June it becomes 20 flights per week,” said the former Indonesian Ambassador to Turkey.
However, he noted the provincial government would not be complacent. The administration is currently overseeing interconnection efforts to the Pacific region. “We are still awaiting the permit process for the Lombok-Darwin and Lombok-Perth routes,” he added.
According to Iqbal, the acceleration of international route additions is deliberately being pushed to welcome a series of large-scale sporting events scheduled to be held in NTB soon. Two notable events are the Pocari Sweat Run in July and the world’s most prestigious motorcycle racing event, MotoGP, in October 2026. “At a time when foreign airlines are reducing schedules to other destinations in Indonesia, Lombok has managed to significantly add to its schedule,” Iqbal emphasised.
The provincial government’s aggressiveness in opening air access has yielded sweet results. Over the past year, the local government has successfully pushed for the opening of five new flight destinations.
If permits for the Darwin and Perth (Australia) routes are completed, he said, NTB will soon have seven new international destinations. Besides opening new routes, he continued, the government has also successfully added 12 flight schedules to existing routes. “With increasingly wide-open flight access, NTB is now ready to pamper foreign tourists while strengthening its position as a future main tourism magnet for Indonesia,” he concluded.
Previously, the General Manager of Zainuddin Abdul Madjid International Airport, Aidhil Philip Julian, stated the frequency increase provides more schedule options for the public, tourists, and business travellers between Lombok and Singapore. “With this increase, Scoot flights are now available daily, with certain days having more than one flight frequency,” Aidhil said in an official statement on Tuesday (9/6/2026). He noted the increase reflects growing airline confidence in the potential of Lombok’s international aviation market.
