Singapore Launches OCEANS-X to Enhance Maritime Digital Connectivity

Singapore (ANTARA) - Singapore has launched a new platform, OCEANS-X, at the opening ceremony of Singapore Maritime Week (SMW) 2026 on Tuesday, aimed at enhancing maritime digital connectivity and supporting global trade flows. Speaking at the opening ceremony, Jeffrey Siow, Acting Minister for Transport and Senior Minister of State for Finance, announced the launch of OCEANS-X, a new data exchange and Application Programming Interface (API) platform developed by the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore. Siow stated that the platform will facilitate data exchange between regulators, port operators, shipping companies, and international partners, allowing various maritime systems to become interoperable. According to the MPA, OCEANS-X provides secure system-to-system connectivity across the maritime ecosystem, enabling maritime companies and government agencies to exchange trusted data directly. Ultimately, this connectivity enables the provision of integrated digital services for better service delivery, more efficient port operations, smoother trade flows, and stronger connectivity with global ports. Organised by the MPA, SMW 2026 is taking place from 20 to 24 April this year, bringing together more than 20,000 participants from nearly 80 countries and regions, including ministers, senior government officials, industry leaders, and maritime professionals. This year marks the 20th edition of SMW. Under the theme ‘Actions Meet Ambition’, the event provides a platform for participants to exchange views on shared challenges facing the international shipping industry and explore practical solutions. Key topics discussed include maritime decarbonisation, digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as cybersecurity, funding, and workforce transformation.
