Singapore launches AI essay competition for pre-university students
Singapore launched an essay competition on Monday (9 March) for pre-university students on the theme of Singapore’s future economy driven by artificial intelligence (AI), with the grand prize worth SGD 3,000.
Participants are asked to examine how AI can enhance productivity, create new industries, and strengthen Singapore’s competitiveness, whilst also addressing various challenges such as impacts on the labour market and ethical governance issues, according to a joint statement from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Economic Society of Singapore (SES).
The organisers noted that the theme aligns with the government’s efforts to promote AI adoption by 2026.
The competition is open to all pre-university students currently studying in Singapore regardless of citizenship, as well as pre-university students from Singapore studying overseas.
