Singapore launches AI and advanced computing research institute
Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (ASTAR) has launched a new research institute focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and advanced computing, as the city-state seeks to accelerate the development and deployment of digital technologies. The new entity, named the ASTAR Institute of Advanced Intelligence and Computing, will consolidate ASTAR’s capabilities in AI, data, digital technology, modelling and simulation, quantum technology, and high-performance computing under one organisation, ASTAR said in a statement on Wednesday. A*STAR said the institute will support Singapore’s efforts to develop and deploy AI and digital solutions across research, industry, and the public sector, whilst strengthening the translation of research into commercial and real-world applications.
