SINGAPORE (AFP): Australian carrier Qantas and its partner British Airways on Monday offered a Singapore-Jakarta return ticket for the stunning sum of S$69 (US$41) as part of a week- long promotion.
Southeast Asia sales and marketing manager Rob Coldman, assuring that there was no typographical error in a newspaper advertisement for the Global Offers promotion, said it's one of the cheapest international fares offered anywhere.
"It's not really a response to traffic being bad, but we think we have an opportunity in the market," he said.
The promotion covers seven destinations in Australia, plus Bombay, Jakarta, London, Paris and Frankfurt. Tickets to London and Frankfurt, the most expensive in the promotion, were priced at S$949 (US$561).
The prices were on average 35 percent lower than the next cheapest available in the market, Coldman said.
