SINGAPORE (AP): Expatriate businessmen in Asia have rated
Singapore first among countries in the region for its response to
a nearly two-year-old economic crisis, according to survey
results reported Wednesday.
The survey by the Hong Kong-based Political and Economic Risk
Consultancy involved 400 respondents, the Television Corporation
of Singapore said.
The report provided no break down of the results or margin of
error.
China and South Korea also scored high in the survey, while
Vietnam, Japan and Indonesia got the lowest grades for their
crisis management skills, it said.
Singapore's avoidance of market intervention and advanced
development of financial markets pushed it into the top spot.
Businessmen in the survey also praised Chinese Premier Zhu
Rongji's policies and South Korea's moves to restructure its
financial sector.
