Singapore Has 30,500 Electric Vehicle Charging Stations, Surpassing Half of Target
Singapore reports that more than half of its target of 60,000 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations has been achieved. Senior Minister of State for Transport Sun Xueling stated that Singapore now has 30,500 charging points installed as of March. She was responding to a parliamentary question from Member of Parliament Choo Pei Ling regarding whether inter-agency coordination has been conducted to support the timely deployment of EV charging infrastructure in new housing developments. For context, Singapore aims to have 40,000 EV chargers in public car parks and 20,000 in private locations by 2030. Sun noted that as demand for electric vehicles (EVs) increases, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) is closely monitoring EV adoption rates and coordinating with various agencies, including the Energy Market Authority, Housing and Development Board (HDB), and JTC—a government agency overseeing industrial development in Singapore. “For car parks with high demand, LTA will work with EV charging operators to install more chargers, provided that electrical capacity allows,” Sun said, quoted from Channel News Asia on Thursday (7/4/2026). She explained that there will be at least one fast-charging hub in every HDB town by the end of 2027. According to the latest LTA statistics, electric vehicles (EVs) accounted for 57.6 percent of new car registrations in the first quarter of 2026, up from 45 percent recorded throughout 2025.
