Singapore Chamber in Indonesia Expands Scholarships for RI Students to Develop Talent

The Singapore Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia (SingCham) is expanding its scholarship programme to 13 Indonesian students from the Greater Jakarta area to Bandung, aiming to help them develop their talents. Speaking at the SingCham Uplifting Summit 2026 in Jakarta on Thursday, Chairman of SingCham Indonesia Shoeb Kagda said the programme, launched in 2025, was designed to support Indonesian students with financial assistance, but more importantly, to give them opportunities to nurture their talents. Shoeb assessed that the scholarships are not merely financial aid, but also a catalyst for change and a bridge connecting potential with reality in the professional world. In its second year, the programme provides financial support, mentorship, and professional experience for Indonesian undergraduate students, with its coverage now extended from the Greater Jakarta area to Bandung. According to Shoeb, Indonesian society and students possess great potential and talent but often lack sufficient opportunities. Through the scholarships, SingCham not only provides financial assistance but also includes internship programmes and guidance from Singaporean business leaders. “In this context, I think it is very important that students who secure internships at Singaporean companies are also expected to gain employment opportunities after graduation,” he said. Of the 13 students who successfully obtained the scholarships, three are from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), two from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, one from Padjadjaran University, and seven others from other universities in the Greater Jakarta and Bandung areas. Nahwa Fitri Nabila from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, one of the scholarship recipients, expressed her appreciation to SingCham. “Thank you for your trust in young people, and your investment not only in our education but also in our potential,” she said. She noted that the scholarship process was not just about selection, but also about learning, reflection, and growing one’s capacity. “Each stage pushed us to think more deeply, communicate our ideas more clearly, and challenged us to become better versions of ourselves. More importantly, this programme reminds us that learning is not just about acquiring knowledge, but also about listening, collaborating, and being open to various perspectives,” she added. Meanwhile, Hanif Al Ghiffari Yusuf from the Indonesia University of Education (UPI), another recipient, said the scholarship gave him the chance to meet inspiring people passionate about making a positive impact on education, business, and society. “What I value most about this programme is that it gave me the opportunity to transform myself and to meet inspiring people who are passionate about making a positive impact on education, business, and society,” he said.
