Singapore Becomes Indonesia's Largest Investor in Q1 2026, FDI Reaches Rp250 Trillion
The Ministry of Investment/BKPM recorded that Indonesia’s investment realisation in the first quarter of 2026 was dominated by Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) with a share of 50.01 per cent or valued at Rp250 trillion.
From the perspective of the country of origin, Singapore became the largest investor with an investment value reaching US$4.6 billion or approximately Rp75.9 trillion (exchange rate of Rp16,500 per US dollar). This position reinforces Singapore’s strategic role as Indonesia’s primary investment partner.
In second place was Hong Kong with a contribution of US$2.7 billion or Rp44.55 trillion, followed by China at US$2.2 billion or Rp36.3 trillion.
Meanwhile, the United States ranked fourth with an investment of US$1.3 billion (Rp21.45 trillion), followed by Japan in fifth place at US$1 billion or Rp16.5 trillion.
Based on business sectors, foreign investment flowed most heavily into the basic metal industry, metal goods, and non-machinery and equipment sectors with a value of US$3.7 billion or about 24.5 per cent of total FDI. Next, the mining sector received US$1.1 billion, followed by the housing, industrial estates, and office sectors at US$900 million.
From a regional perspective, West Java became the primary destination for foreign investment with a value of US$3.1 billion. This was followed by DKI Jakarta at US$1.9 billion and Central Sulawesi at US$1.8 billion.
Overall, Indonesia’s investment realisation in the first quarter of 2026 reached Rp498.8 trillion. This figure grew 7.2 per cent year-on-year and 0.4 per cent compared to the previous quarter.
This increase in investment also contributed to absorbing 706,569 workers, or an 18.9 per cent increase compared to the same period last year.
