Singapore awards scholarships

JAKARTA (JP): The Singapore Embassy announced on Monday eight
Indonesian recipients of scholarships awarded by the Singapore
government for admission to the National University of Singapore
and the Nanyang Technological University.

The recipients are Tri Tutury Farah Meswari, Mathias
Dharmawirya, Gede Artha Azriadi Prana, Riznaldi Akbar, Cheryl
Riya, Bina Prawati, Yuni Tri Wulandari and Grace Marlina.

The students will take undergraduate degree courses at the
universities.

The scholarships are awarded by the Singapore government to
students from other member countries of the Association of
Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) and 20 Indonesians have received a
scholarship since the program's inception in 1998.

There is no bond imposed on the scholarships by the Singapore
government, however, recipients are expected to return to work in
their respective home countries after graduation.(hdn)
