Singapore awards RI tycoon

JAKARTA (JP): Asiatic Enterprises Pte. Ltd. which is owned and
managed by Indonesian businessman Johanes Widjaja (left in above
picture) ranked ninth on the 1996 Enterprise 50 list of the best
performing private companies in Singapore.

Widjaja received a trophy from Singapore's Prime Minister Lee
Hsien Loong (2nd left) at a gala event held at the Ritz Carlton
Hotel in Singapore Wednesday night.

The annual listing of the 50 best performers was organized by
Andersen Consulting and The Business Times newspaper in
cooperation with the Economic Development Board.

Serial System, a semi-conductor distributor, which has
successfully diversified into chip design and development, topped
this year's list.

In addition, Widjaja also received the Entrepreneur of the
Year award from the Singapore Small-Medium Enterprise Institute.
