Singapore Airlines to Install High-Speed Starlink Wi-Fi in 2027
Exciting news comes from the aviation world. Premium carrier Singapore Airlines is reportedly set to deliver a super-fast internet experience onboard aircraft through Starlink technology starting from early 2027. This means activities such as video streaming, gaming, and uploading content could become commonplace even at altitudes of tens of thousands of feet. According to a report from VNExpress (4/5/2026), Singapore Airlines will begin rolling out the Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite-based Wi-Fi service from Starlink gradually from the first quarter of 2027. This technology is known for providing a much faster and more stable connection compared to conventional satellite systems. The service will be installed on several main fleets, including the Airbus A350 (long-haul and ultra-long-range) as well as the Airbus A380. The installation process will be gradual and targeted to be fully completed by 2029. Passengers will be able to enjoy a connection that supports heavy activities such as video streaming, online gaming, and sending large files in real-time. Moreover, the service is said to provide a more seamless connection from takeoff to landing. This differs from current aircraft Wi-Fi, which is often limited and does not yet support streaming popular apps like Netflix or YouTube. Free for Passengers? According to Onemmileatatime.com (5/5/26), this high-speed Wi-Fi is planned to be available for free, at least for the majority of passengers including premium classes and KrisFlyer loyalty programme members. This step is also in line with global trends, where many airlines are beginning to offer free Wi-Fi as a new service standard to enhance the customer experience. This is what is driving many airlines around the world to switch to this technology to improve in-flight connectivity quality. Singapore Airlines’ plan to introduce Starlink Wi-Fi from 2027 could be a game changer in the aviation industry. In the future, flying will no longer be offline time but could instead become a productive moment, or simply a marathon of favourite films without interruptions. If everything goes according to plan, in-flight streaming experiences could soon become the new standard in modern air travel.
